"Edit in Engage" doesn't work at all.
Aug 07, 2011
This is annoying. The "Edit in Engage" button that used to work on an Engage slide in PowerPoint no longer works at all. If I click on the button, the "picture tools" menu opens but Engage does not.
I am using PowerPoint 2010, Windows VISTA and Presenter 09.
The button always did take a while to load but I'd learned to be patient and just wait it out. Now, however, it just doesn't do anything but open the picture formatting menu tab.
I know I can just go to my files and open the engage slide from there but since the product is supposed to work, I'd like to know why it isn't doing so. This extra step of going to get the Engage interaction file shouldn't be necessary, should it?
I saw several posts about this in the old, inactive blog posts but didn't see a fix for it that I was willing to try.
Thanks

Hi Jon,
I apologize for the issues that you're having. Please make sure that you have the latest version of the Articulate software installed:

(After filling out the forms, you'll be forwarded to the software download screen).

Thanks, Brian. I just downloaded the latest version of Presenter 09 and the accompanying software, Engage, etc.
Nothing is different. The "Edit in Engage" button still just opens the picture formatting tab so I could change the look of that button. But it does not appear to be an active link to anything.
Hi Jon,
Is the "Communicator" add-on enabled on your machine?

Yes, it's enabled.
But interestingly enough, when I looked at the COM addins I noticed the "PointeCast.TPaddin" was checked. I don't use PointeCast any longer so I unchecked the box to see if doing this would help with the Engage problem.
The "Edit in Engage" now seems to be working. It looks like the PointeCast addin was the problem.
Thanks for all your advice.
Jon
