Audio Files
Apr 12, 2018
Hi Team,
I have audio files that I want to add from my iPhone voice memos into Rise. However, when I choose "upload from file" after adding the audio block, the available files I have do not show up as options to upload. I believe this is because they are in the m4a format. How can I get these files to upload? Thank you so much!

Hi Alexis,
When adding in Audio files, you may need to change the File Type it's looking for to allow for All Files to find those M4A files. Here's what that looks like on Windows and on a Mac environment.
What file type does work in Rise?
Hi LaVon!
We don't limit you to a list of supported file types in Rise. We expect virtually every format of audio files to be supported. The maximum file size for each audio clip you upload to Rise is 5 GB. If you run into an issue with a particular file, let us know, and we'll give you some help!
Thank you.
Hi Alyssa,
I try to add a 20MB audio file, however, it shows an error after starting the upload. I thought it has a size limit, but you say that file can be up to 5GB. Could you please help me with this issue?
This link requires a password. Would you be able to tell me how to allow for all files to find my WAV files? None are appearing when I try to upload them from my files. Thank you.
Actually, I was able to figure out how to change it to all file types, but when I tried to upload the files (in WAV format), it gave me an error message that told me to check that I was using the right file type. If all file types are supported, why isn't this working??
Nevermind!! I figured it out by accident :). Thanks anyway!
I'm glad you got it all figured out, Reyna :) Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
I am having difficultly uploading audio files. Once downloaded on to my desktop and located using finder I am unable to upload the files? I am using Rise on my Mac.
File size is 1.6mb and the raining files are smaller. File type I have tried a few variations.
Thanks,
James
I have since moved to a Windows computer and it appears to work fine. Any reason for this?
Just wondering for future uploads?
Thanks
Hi there, James! What web browser were you using on your Mac? These browsers are supported for Rise authoring.
If you were using a supported browser and still getting stuck, we can lend a hand. Just share your audio file with us here, and we'll test it from our side.
I have tried but it does not work. can you help please? I am trying to upload an audio file from iTunes however it selects the folder but it does not allow selection of the specific file, could you please advise on how to solve this problem?
Hi, L S. Check out this information from Apple Support on converting iTunes files on your machine. I would then try to save those new files to another folder on your machine for use in other apps.
Hi I'm trying to upload some audio files to a module I'm creating. The audio files are only small, < 300KB, yet Rise seem to get stuck in the "Processing audio..." mode and never finishes the upload.
Is there something wrong with uploading audio files in Rise atm?
Hi Kristie,
Thanks for reaching out! Sorry to hear you're having trouble.
What browser and version are you currently using?
Do you have this same behavior when using another browser or testing on another network?
Have you tried clearing your browser cache?
Hi Renz,
I'm using the latest version of Chrome on a Mac and I have cleared the cache and it still didn't work.
However, when I tried using Safari instead, the files uploaded ok.
Hi Renz,
I just tried Chrome again and now it's working! Strange...
Hi Kristie!
Thanks for letting us know this is working for you now. It could have been your network or the cache causing issues. Glad that's resolved!
