Prior to recently, the "split right image" view in the Apex theme did not display the theme color in the header image's backdrop, but now it does. Why was this change made, and how can I undo it? Moreover, why include an unnecessary feature? If I desire background color, I will apply it myself. Why limit my alternatives by making a decision for me?

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts about Rise 360. Occasionally, design changes are made to give courses a new look. We don’t currently have an option for changing the design elements of the cover page layouts, but that sounds like an interesting idea that I can share with our product team.
I have the same problem :(. My courses' cover pages changed to a random picture. However, our organization only allows colors and pictures which stick to our corporate design therefore can't use that random picture. Meaning I have to change that although I already did set the settings for those courses before. Not user friendly.
