eLearning not marking off as complete in SuccessFactors

Oct 05, 2021

We have been experiencing an alarming number of occurrences where the eLearning in the LMS (SuccessFactors) is not completing (marking off as complete) after the user gets to the end of the learning, and the screen says "you've completed this module, click on exit button".

The eLearning SCORM 1.2 files are created using Articulate 36o (cloud version). The users are experiencing the issue in google Chrome and MS Edge. (Mostly google Chrome version Version 94.0.4606.61) however we cannot replicate the issue.

We have even developed a survey for the users to complete to provide us insight into their experience and cannot seem to locate a pattern. We have had SAP support take a look and they too cannot find the root cause.

Our resolution is currently manually marking off as complete in the LMS admin screen of the user in their content menu. We cannot sustain this, as we have mandatory learning everyone must complete and over 15,000 users. we receive around 10 issues a day.

I want to know if anyone else is experiencing the same and if have you been able to replicate the issue and locate the root cause? We are experiencing the issue when the learning is published via the cloud based log in of the Articulate Rise 360 application not the desktop version.

Hi Michelle,

I am so sorry about this.

We do see occasional reports of Rise 360 courses not getting a completed status in SuccessFactors.  Here's one ELH discussion where the completion issue was found to have been caused by SuccessFactors referencing a different HTML page in a Rise course.  This was actually in reference to an article from SuccessFactors that discusses this issue.

It may also help if you can test out one of your courses in SCORM Cloud.  You can follow this link for steps on how to do that.  If you are able to get a completed status for your course, it is best to reach out again to your LMS support team for further troubleshooting.  Additionally, enabling debug mode may help them find out the root cause.

If the course fails to complete even in SCORM Cloud, reach out to us by submitting a case so that we can investigate this further.

Hi Christopher,

thanks for your reply.

Yes we have already seen that article in SF support community and can confirm that we are already pointing to scormdriver/indexAPI.html

We have also tried to use the debug mode, however we cannot replicate the issue.

For the users that are experiencing the issue, we met with them over teams meeting to record and debug, and guess what??? the learning marked as complete so we couldn't see the issue re-occur. No one in the systems team is able to replicate the non completion recording. This is what is so strange about the issue.  We are also collecting information from each user experiencing the issue like, device, browser, browser version and cannot locate a pattern.  Google Chrome is the most common browser facing the issue.

Have not tried this SCORM cloud option - we can try this with a few users that experienced the issue but.

I also think raising a case with Articulate will also be the next stage, as we have exhausted all other options, including raising support tickets with SAP Support.

regards,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

It's strange you and your users cannot replicate the completion issue when you test it again.
I wonder if the issue could be environmental (network security, VPN/Proxy, or browser plugin). Testing your Rise course in another LMS, like SCORM Cloud, should certainly help. And feel free to open up a case with us anytime to investigate this issue more thoroughly!

Cheers!

Hi Lara! So sorry to hear that you're encountering the same issue. I would suggest troubleshooting your file in SCORM Cloud to check if the behavior is the same. SCORM Cloud is an industry-standard testing engine that's free and supports AICC, SCORM, Tin Can API (xAPI), and cmi5 content.

This video tutorial demonstrates how to use SCORM Cloud with Articulate content.

You'll also find some helpful LMS-troubleshooting tips here.

If your course works properly in SCORM Cloud but not in your LMS, kindly share your SCORM Cloud findings with your LMS provider to troubleshoot the issue.

If the course encounters the same issues in SCORM Cloud, open a case with us here so that we can investigate.
