Reset Learner Progress - Effect on Retry Attempts Setting

Apr 04, 2023

Under the description for this setting it says "Note: If you lower the passing score of a quiz after the course is published, learners have to retake the quiz in the republished course to gain the benefit of the lowered score, even if their prior score would be a success with the new parameters." How does this work?  If I republish the Assessment with this setting turned on, do I have to reassign the assessment to everyone who never passed it?  Also does this feature impact "Quiz Retries"?

Hi Mary,

Are you referring to the Note under this article's Submit to Reach 360 section? If so, you don't have to reassign the course to your learners.  However, Reach 360 will only know the passing score based on the first time the course was published.  So if the passing score is set to 75% at the time it was published, this is the passing score Reach 360 will be aware of even if you changed the passing score later to 50% for the quiz in your authoring tool.

You will need to resubmit the course with the new passing score to Reach 360 for all learners to use this new passing score.  In the Reach 360 Manage tab (under Courses), you'll notice it will say NEW CHANGES for the updated course sent for publication (as seen in an example below).

course

Click on the course, and you will see a publish button on the course page.

This feature will also tie up with the Quiz Retries feature.  If the quiz can only be attempted once, learners will not be able to retake the quiz to take advantage of the new passing score.  You'll have to increase the quiz attempts to allow learners to retake the quiz.

The Reset Learner Progress setting (as noted in the title of your post) is more for exporting to other LMSs.  As noted in this section, this is primarily used to avoid getting a blank page for learners taking an updated course.  Setting this option will make learners start from the beginning of the course.

If you're interested in a Reach 360 trial, click the Reach 360 tab on your Articulate 360 dashboard to test it out!
