Rise branching/remediation/re-scoring

All:

I have a situation where I have a course that ends with a quiz; learners have three attempts to pass the quiz.  If they take it three times and do not pass, then the learners are enrolled in a separate remediated course.  

What I would like to do is let the learner go *back* to the original course with the number of quiz attempts reset so that they can try again.

What's the best way to achieve this? Plot twist: this used to work, but then I added a results setting so that the learner can see how they've done on the quiz.  I suspect that Rise is reporting this to the LMS, which is recording it and won't clear it once it's recorded.
