Rise Handling meta-data differently?

Feb 22, 2017

Good day all...

I've noticed over the last couple of days that Rise seems to be handling meta-data differently in the multimedia/embed tool.  It appears to pass only a marginal amount -- if any -- from YouTube.  I'll try some other sites this afternoon to see if it goes beyond YT.

Q: any plans for giving users more fine-grain control over that tool?

Hi Michael,

Before the update that we rolled out for Rise to respect the iFrame embed code, if you had inserted an embed code, Rise extracted it and ran it through Embedly, which in turn gave the meta data. If you were using a YouTube embed code vs. the URL that would explain some of the differences you're seeing.

It could also be something as simple as inadvertently unchecking the "Show metadata" box or the code you're using doesn't have all the meta data you're expecting to see such as a description. Let us know if neither of those apply to your situation and we'd love to take a look at the embed code you've got!

Also, could you share a bit more about what controls you'd like to see? If you've got examples of other sites that are doing in really well in your eyes, those would be helpful too.
