Translating a Rise Module

Jul 04, 2023

I wish to translate a Rise module into French. So far, to try and achieve this, I have:

  • Clicked the Export XLIFF File icon (including HTML formatting), which is currently using Notepad for the source file
  • Opened the file within Notepad++
  • Copied and pasted all text into Word
  • Translated the entire document into French
  • Copied and pasted all text back to Notepad++
  • Saved
  • Clicked the Import Translated Text icon and selected the updated file

However, this is not working as, at this point, the system simply hangs.

I am now wondering if I need additional software, such as Smartcat to successfully complete this task.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tracy,

You are correct.  As stated in step 2 of this article, you will need to enlist the help of a translation service, web app (e.g., SmartCat), or computer program to edit the XLIFF file.  The service or program will add the target language based on the source language, which should get reflected in your course once you have imported the file back to Rise 360.

By the way, make sure to create a duplicate and use that to export a translation file.  You can check out the article above for more details on the entire process.
