YouTube recommendations on embedded videos in Rise
Dec 10, 2018
Hi all,
Funny (but not) question.
I am embedding a YouTube video into a Rise course.
Can anyone advise whose account the YouTube recommendations are based on - i.e. the account of the individual learner or me as the developer?
When I'm previewing my course the end of the video shows some very unrelated kids contents (as a working mum - think sharks and snakes, Bear Grylls, and various teenage youtubers). I'm not signed into YouTube.
I want to make sure the 10,000+ staff where I work don't all get to see my YouTube recommendation feed popping up in the course.
Thanks Christine

Hi Christine - I don't know the answer to your question, but try using this embed code. You shouldn't see any recommended videos at the end of the video with this. Replace the bold text with the video ID at the end of your YouTube URL.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YOUTUBEID?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hope that helps!
Hi Emily, this is perfect. Thank you. A much better solution.
Thank you Christine
You’re very welcome! Happy to help. 😊
Hello!
I tried using the embed code with my Youtube ID but I'm getting this error and the video won't play. Any thoughts?
Hi Rebecca
The attached screenshot shows the part of the Youtube string that I took and how/where inserted it into the code Emily provided. Hope this helps troubleshoot.
Thanks Christine
I recommend Vimeo as an alternative to youtube. Vimeo offers much greater control than youtube,
Got it, thanks Christine!! I had too many numbers/letters in my YouTube ID. It's working now :)
