Image sizing and aspect ratio for Rise Image Block

Oct 23, 2018

What is the default aspect ratio for the image area when the Image Block is used. I want to be able to control what part of my picture is shown by providing a cropped image that has the same aspect ratio as the built-in default value. Are there documentations or instructions on how to do this?

Thank you,

Dan

Hey there, Dan!

Rise displays images in different sizes and ratios depending on the device you're using, especially in those full-width image blocks. For example, the way an image is cropped on a tablet is completely different than the way it's cropped on a phone.

Check out these best practices for images in Rise.  You can also find other tips and strategies shared by my colleague Tom here. Hope that helps!

Hi Crystal,

Thank you for providing the links. While they were informative, it did not provide the solution for the Text on image arbitrary placement of an image.

Please see my example course, https://rise.articulate.com/share/BID_f-ru_fsEXzXdceHeVOY8xYNb7jEG.

In this example, I'm only concern with desktop view:

  • I want to use the Text on image block
  • I want the Text on image block to display the entire head of the subject in the picture.

It doesn't matter how I sliced and diced the picture, there's no way for me to have the image display that would show the full head view of the subject within the Text on image block.

For each example, I also used the Image full width block as a way to compare how Rise placed the image with the same aspect ratio.

Perhaps a UI feature should include a way to position the image as top, center, or bottom focused.

Thank you,
