Text Boxes shifting on preview

Feb 24, 2012

Hi all,

I've dug through posts with similar key words and can't find anything, so I'm hoping someone else has run into this and found a solution. I have about half of my module in the format of the screen in question so rather than flail around trying things I thought I'd ask first

I have a notebook-page slide where various notes on a topic pop up (on click) as they are discussed. (At the end, I'll have PDFs of each slide that they can download into a takeaway.) Anyway, in the slide they are aligned perfectly, but in preview they have all shifted downward on the page. (Sample screens attached.) I had a similar problem on a different project that was related to the reflection effect on the image behind the text, but there is nothing like that in this case.

The one thing that jumps into my head is to somehow make every text box into a PNG, but that isn't really feasible due to the quantity of text boxes in the module. Any other ideas?

Happy Friday!

Hi Amy!

This may be happening because vector information (such as that which comes from PowerPoint) cannot be translated exactly when converted to raster format during the Flash publishing process.

You may want to consider one of the following workarounds:

OPTION 1:

Justify the text (rather than using Left, Center, or Right alignment).  Justified text maintains positional data better during conversion than does Left, Center, or Right aligned text.

OPTION 2 (which you've already mentioned as painstaking option):

Export the text as a PNG image (right-click the text box, and select "Save as Picture").  Then delete the text box, and import the saved image in its place.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, feel free to send us your files so we can take a closer look. To do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!

I've had similar issues in the past as well...it seems to be problematic with specific fonts (x-height?). There is one handwriting font in particular that I know I have to nudge up two taps of the up arrow on my keyboard for it to align properly on the lined notebook paper background. I just "over compensate" all of the text boxes when I use that font now. Hope that helps.
