Add Custom Interactions to Rise 360 Projects with the Storyline Block

Hi there - forgive me if I am being obtuse! I love Rise and what it can do and use it extensively for my business. However, the one delimiting factor has been the use of Storyline etc in Macs. Quite simply I haven't been able to use all the features by the fact that I use a Mac. Has this situation changed? Does this new block mean I can build this block within Rise or just use it as suggested in the video (and hence useless to me as a Mac user!? All help and comments gratefully received!

My LMS will not recognized the storyline interaction in the scorm package. Are the interactions able to be read in the Rise SCORM package? If so, is there a trick to this?

I LOVE!! the new SL block interaction integration in Rise. I produced my first Rise course with a simple ordering drag & drop that works well in all media, EXCEPT on smart phones. On those devices, the interaction appears on-screen as a video. When you click the video, it opens on the same screen, the interaction is extremely sluggish, but does allow you to complete the interaction. However, when you try to "X" off of the page, nothing happens. Is this a known problem or is there any further configuration that I can/should do to ensure it works with all handheld devices? The remainder of the Rise course functions very well on all smart phones. Also, even if you have to open the interaction as a video (iFrame? etc.) can you configure it to open in a new tab or window instead of the same window as the course? Keep up the great work on the Articulate 360 products. I am using them more and more each week.

Is there a recommended Storyline 360 slide size to use in order to minimise rasterization of fonts and images, when the slide is embedded into Rise?

Hi So If I create a course for a client using Rise and 360, and want to include the Storyline block I publish from 360 to the review platform and pick the block from there - but then once complete and sent to the client. Is the content still being pulled from my Review area? Can it be deleted from here once the project is completed, or does it have to remain in my review area for ever after?

I have publish a Drag and Drop interactive Storyline slide locally to My PC. Is it possible to add this slide to Rise?

Absolutely love the Storyline Block feature! Would love to see this feature available to insert into Tabs and Accordions too. Also the inclusion of an interactive video option would be amazing!

hi is it possible to create screen recordings in 360 and then transfer them to Rise? We need to have software simulations as part of our course so I'd love to know if these video recordings are included when you talk about interactions. thanks

Hi Jane, We've done this for our own purposes but had to go around the block a few times to get the video quality we were looking for. Peek works but we found on importing it into Rise the image was a bit blurry. And, I suspect this is due to optimisation of the image. But this worked for us: 1. Record your software video - Peek or any other tool. Save as MP4. 2. We then created a Storyline 360 scene with the video embedded in one of the slides. 3. We then selected the video on the slide and chose the Options tab: then chose 'Show video in new browser window', and 'No Compression'. 4. Then we published the Storyline scene to Articulate 360. 5. Created a RISE course. 6. Imported the Storyline scene from Articulate 360 into a block lesson of type Interactive using the Storyline choice. 7. And we were good to go. We needed captions that were ADA compliant so we did one other thing, at Step 2 we used the add captions option in Storyline to add captions to the video. Then we exported the Storyline captions in their VTT format to a piece of software that converted them to SRT format, which we then used with another software product to 'Burn' the captions into the original video, leaving us with a captioned MP4 video which we used as a replacement in Storyline for the original video. Then to step 3, as before. Hi Greg, If this is a video that is embedded in a Storyline block that you are describing, check that you have selected the 'Show Video in Slide' option in Video Tools Options for your Storyline Slide. To see these options navigate to the Storyline slide containing the video and click the video image on the slide and the Video Tools Options tab will appear. If your option is set to 'Show Video in New Browser Window' this might be the problem.

Hi this is Karen Pizur. I love this new block option, but we are experiencing a few issues. I follow the instructions listed above by Ashley and here is what we see. in the mobile view, we get an image that shows a play button. When clicked, it opens a new screen and the SL block works correctly, but not within the course. The end-user needs to close that screen and return to the original course. Not good. Suggestions?

If you add a Storyline block to a Rise course, then later modify the Storyline block in Storyline, do you have to publish and upload a new version of the Storyline block to your Rise course or does it dynamically update? thanks, Jeanette

Hi! When ensuring we get a crystal clear output (ie: what I'm looking at in Storyline is what shows up in Rise) we've been trying to figure out what the optimal Story Size is. There are 2 factors here: 1) We use Talent LMS and in order to get our course to cover the full screen, we've had to increase the aspect ratios when we upload. (so we don't get all that pesky white space around the course) 2) Even when publishing to 360 and adding it to Rise (no LMS), it seems to come out fuzzy. Does anyone know what we should be sizing this at? Thanks!

Hi, I'm trialling this and finding it easy enough to use. I make a quick sample Articulate 360 course and brought it into Rise. Worked a treat, however, it is not showing on the mobile versions (portrait/landscape). It is something I have done/not done or is it because I am on the trail version?

This is a great future and we are already using it on our new courses. Although, for mobiles (phones) it appears differently, as a black block with a play button comes out. After you press play a new tab is open and the presentation appears. Would you know why? Thanks.

I got this to work and looks great in desktop view ...but when I preview the storyline content in other modes (tablet, mobile)- I am seeing the video buttons- prompting user to hit play...am I missing a setting??

I've created the slide in storyline 360 and I believe I have disabled all the necessary items as discussed in the video. when I bring it to the Rise course it still has a big black framing all around. I can't quite figure out how to remove that. Any ideas as I would like the background to be white like the rest of the Rise course.

Digging a little deeper I answered my own question 2.Click the Player Templates button on the toolbar. 3.Select your player template, and click the Edit button. 4.Select the Colors and Effects tab.

When my Rise program reaches the Storyline block it opens it in a new window. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Hi. How do you disable the player controls including the next and previous buttons and the sidebar?

I am curious about setting the slide size in Storyline 360 for creating interactions that will be used in Rise. Is there an ideal size, or aspect ratio?

Can Rise work in Success Factors yet? I see some of these posts from a year ago, and I'm hoping that this issue has been resolved.
