Announcing 7 Exciting New Features in Articulate 360

We’ve added new features to Articulate 360 that give you more flexibility, control, and options in our award-winning authoring apps, Storyline 360 and Rise.

Rise is perfect for most projects because it makes it easy to create courses quickly and the output is stunning. And Storyline 360 is great for building courses with custom interactivity. New features in this release offer more integration between these two apps, so you get the best of both worlds.

Here’s a sample of all the new goodness:

  • Publish to video in Storyline 360: You asked for it—and we’re happy to deliver! Now you can publish your Storyline 360 project as a single MP4 file.
  • Require completion of a Storyline block in Rise: Make sure learners complete a Storyline block before moving on in your Rise courses.
  • Block templates in Rise: Save existing blocks with text and media as templates you can reuse later to build courses faster.
  • Shared block templates in Rise: Articulate 360 Teams users can share the block templates they create in Rise with the rest of their team.

I just watched the video update. I am excited about the completion tracking option mentioned around the 40 second mark. Does the new option allow us to create a pretest and a posttest within the course that the LMS will be able to track both results individually? More specifically, what questions the learner missed in each test? I've a client wanting such features. Enjoy your day. Cheers!

Hi Kenneth - This is more a SCORM challenge than a Storyline challenge. You can still track the submitted items and could capture the pre-test score if you get creative with interactions. By this, I mean, creating a question in your post test for "Pre-test score" and passing the score of the pre-test into the field. You can hide questions from view and auto submit the screen so it's transparent to the user. This could then be pulled in a report from your LMS if it's supported by your LMS. You'll want to publish to SCORM 2004 if using this option. SCORM itself is only able to capture a single completion status, single score by the specification. Great news, especially the block templates and requiring a passing quiz score! Speaking of quizzes, what about adding the possibility of turning off the pass/fail feedback altogether? Some courses are for learners studying at home and they don't need to "pass" a quiz and just a score info would be sufficient. I suggested this feature some time ago and I see it's not even yet in the "coming soon" stage. A feedback from the dev team would be appreciated!

Hi Arek! :) Due to the large volume of feature requests we receive from customers on a daily basis, we’re not able to personally notify customers when features are or are not implemented. You can do the same in Storyline. Rapt has a platform that overlays the video to create the interactive elements. Here's a mock up that Sponge built as a proof of concept where they mimic the same style. We really appreciate the new "Complete Course" trigger used in combination with the Rise "Continue" block! I'm wondering whether there is a way to test the trigger before putting the Storyline block in a Rise project, much like we can with variables by inserting a reference variable in a text block on a slide. For now, I'm having to publish Storyline content, insert it into Rise, and then test it there. Thanks!

Hi Jenny! That's a great question, thanks for posting it here. For now, there's no way to test it. However, here's a workaround: - Create another trigger (with the same conditions as the course completion trigger) that changes a variable to true. - Display that variable in a text box as a reference. So, if the variable changes as expected, you can assume the course completion trigger also fired since it has the same conditions. Hopefully this helps :)

Hi Darcy! Sorry you've run into this issue. Are you using Storyline 360? If you click "Help" on the ribbon at the top of Storyline, and click "About Storyline", what version number do you see in the bottom right hand corner of the window? Should be version 3.13... If you're indeed in the latest version, the Publish to Video option should be available in the Publish menu. Hi Semaj! Certain things can be undone in Rise, certain things can be undone for a certain amount of time and certain things cannot be undone. When you're formatting or adding text, and you want to undo a copy paste or something you've typed, you can use CTRL+Z to undo certain things. If you delete a block or a lesson in Rise, there will be a "undo" pop up that appears in the bottom left-hand corner for a few moments that you can click to undo the change, in case it was by accident. However, you have to click it quickly or it eventually disappears.
