Engage '09 Studio '13 and the end of Flash Player

May 18, 2018

When Flash is completely removed from MS Edge and Chrome will engage interactions cease to function on these browsers?

I realize some may ask why not just use Storyline 3 or 360. I use SL3 now, but we have lots of legacy content that I do not wish to build new interactions for based on the staffing of my department (just me). So the ability to use the old interactions would be nice.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray,

Studio '09 content didn't have the option to include HTML5 as an output, so if Flash is not enabled or installed in a browser the content would not playback.

With Studio '13 we introduced an option to include HTML5, so if you published with that, your content should show the HTMl5 when Flash is no longer available in the browsers.

Also, keep in mind we're working on a few different things to prepare for the Flash-free future.

Your Studio '13 (and '09) courses can be upgraded to Articulate 360 and published from there as well. Take a look at the trial of Articulate 360 here!  You could import those into a Storyline course, or upgrade directly into Studio 360.

Hi Ashley,

When you say that "...Studio '13 (and '09) courses can be upgraded to Articulate 360 and published from there as well" ; does that apply to Storyline 3 too?

I ask because when I try to import an Engage file in to Storyline 3 the software requires me to have some version of engage installed. Without a version of engage Storyline won't accept the import.
