Engage 13 Labeled Graphic

Oct 24, 2013

In Engage 09 the popup box had a boarder and a light grey background in Engage 13 it has no boarder and is white - on a mainly white background it looks bad - how do a add a boarder and a background to the popup?

Hi Ian,

Glad you found where you can change colors - in regards to the border, are you looking for the Base>>Main border?  Possibly if you're looking for something different can you include an image of the area you're talking about called out, and we can help you figure out which one it would be within the list of options.

I'm having the same issue and the responses above do not address the problem. I want to change the color of the pop up box inside the interaction or add a border line around the pop up box. It is white and the background is white. This is not a player issue. Can this be done? In Presenter '09 there was a border around the pop up box.

Here is the problem:

Here is a picture of what I NOW have using Presenter '13. Notice the content window that belongs to the Information marker. It is borderless. I would like to have a border or be able to change the color of that rounded box.

Engage content window is borderless.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for sharing that image - that helped me understand what section you were referring to. It looks like you're using a labelled graphic interaction? You can change the color of the box fill and the text, but the outline itself will remain white. There is additional information here on the labelled graphic interaction and you'll want to look into adjusting the theme colors associated with the "Content" and adjust it's transparency as well.

Apologies for being so thick, but there isn't any information in the above links that tell me how to change the color of the box fill (I think that is referred to as the Marker). Could you kindly give me specific instructions on how to do this? I have gone through everything in the interaction and tested it and I am unable to effect the box background color/fill.

Hi Greg,

No apologies necessary, as it seems I wasn't clear enough.

When you look at the theme colors tutorial, you'll be able to change the background and the text color associated with the information box that pops up with the marker. In your image it reads "Introdution  This five-step process will..."

To do this, go to the theme colors within Engage, and you'll want to create a new theme color and then to change those associated with the "Content" section. You'll see the preview section on the right update as you make changes so that you can see and confirm you're adjusting the right elements.

The marker itself, which is the round icon that the user clicks or hovers on, select it on the image in the preview panel (or select the corresponding label in the Steps panel). Then use the following formatting options on the ribbon:

  • Marker Color: Choose one of the predefined colors, or click More Colors at the bottom of the drop-down and specify a custom color. To use the same color for all markers, click the Apply to All button to the right of the Marker Color drop-down.
  • Marker Style: This changes the icon that appears on the marker. Choose from over 200 icons. To use the same icon for all markers, click the Apply to All button to the right of the Marker Style drop-down.

For both of these, you won't be able to adjust the outline of the information box or the marker itself.
