Engage freezing trying to preview

Aug 26, 2013

Hi all of a sudden this week, I cannot preview any of my Engage interactions. I can open them and look at al of the tabs, but if I try to preview, it just freezes up and stalls out. I have to go to Task Manager and close it out. it says Windows Explorer is not responding.

I have IE8 on a new laptop.  I installed the latest version of .NET and Flash hoping it would fix the issue. I noticed that Articulate Presenter 09 is only supported in Office Version 10 with 32 bit, not 64 bit. I have this but I've had it a while and this was working fine last week. is there anything that changed recently that would cause this freezing issue? Thanks

Hi Julie,

There haven't been any updates that would change how your Engage is working, but if it's behaving erratically, I always suggest to do a repair of the Studio 09 software.  You may also have to repair the supporting Windows software.

Some other basic rules to keep in mind to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

If your Engage interactions are still freezing during preview, please connect with our Support team here, and reference this thread so that they know what troubleshooting you've already done.
