Issues with editing interactions and saving them to PPT

Jan 07, 2014

Hi,

I have studio'13 and i am facing right now some strange situations:

- when I start to edit an interaction from PowerPoint (PPT 10) and then save and return to presenter, it creates a new slide with a date of last modified in dec, 30 1899 at 12:00 AM. For exemple, if I have the interaction inserted, the "right one" will have the same information as before editing and the new one has this date and doesn't work...

- Also, when I have a title with portuguese letters that are not in english (ex: ç or ã), it appears with some strange symbols, which didn't appear with studio'09.

And I have also a "stupid" question: why does an interaction go directly to the last slide position, if I am in the beggining or the middle of my ppt presentation?

Can anybody help me with these probably simple questions?

Thanks,

Paulo

Hi there Paulo and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

when I start to edit an interaction from PowerPoint (PPT 10) and then save and return to presenter, it creates a new slide with a date of last modified in dec, 30 1899 at 12:00 AM. For exemple, if I have the interaction inserted, the "right one" will have the same information as before editing and the new one has this date and doesn't work...

This does sound strange. Are you working with any files on a network drive, or any other external source? If so, try moving your project files to your local hard drive and see if that helps.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Also, when I have a title with portuguese letters that are not in english (ex: ç or ã), it appears with some strange symbols, which didn't appear with studio'09.

I believe this is because Non-Western languages are not currently supported in Studio '13. We're working to support non-Western languages—such as Chinese, Japanese, and Russian—in Articulate Presenter '13. It'll be available in a free software update. We can't give timelines, but we'll release it as soon as we can.

And I have also a "stupid" question: why does an interaction go directly to the last slide position, if I am in the beggining or the middle of my ppt presentation?

There's no such thing as a stupid question :) Don't worry - you can ask just about anything here.

Also - that's not a stupid or silly question - it sounds unusual. I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure what you're describing here - are you saying that the interaction itself is starting at the end of the interaction, if you start it from a different slide in the presentation? In either case, I would recommend checking the file locations - that doesn't quite sound like expected behavior.

If you still have trouble with the inserted interactions, please try repairing Studio '13:

If you're still experiencing these issues, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Let me know if you try all of those suggestions and still have trouble.

Thanks!
