Add-in issue to start up

Oct 01, 2018

Hello,

I just installed Articulate Presenter (Studio 13). Whenever I try to open PowerPoint directly with the Software I get a pop up window that says I need to enable the add-ins. I did it with the help of the troubleshooting guide and when everything is set up I get an error message that is attached to this discussion.

I hope someone can help.

Thanks for joining the community, Ron! We can help. 😊

Oh no, it looks like the attachment did not come through. Could you click this link to open our conversation and use the Add Attachment button to include the image in your reply?

In the meantime, you probably already went through these troubleshooting steps, but I wanted to share them here just in case, as they typically help enable the Articulate add-in.

Since the Articulate tab is still missing or inactive, can I also confirm that your PowerPoint Trust Center Settings aren't preventing add-ins from working? Here's how to check:

  1. First, open PowerPoint Options by doing the following for your version of PowerPoint:
    • PowerPoint 2010 or Later: Go to the File tab, and click Options.
    • PowerPoint 2007: Click the round Microsoft Office button, and choose PowerPoint Options.
  2. Select the Trust Center tab on the left side of the window that appears.
  3. Click the Trust Center Settings button on the right side of the window.
  4. When the Trust Center opens, select the Add-ins tab on the left.
  5. If the box is marked to Disable all Application Add-ins, uncheck it.
  6. Click OK twice, then restart PowerPoint for the changes to take effect.

If your Trust Center Settings look A-OK and you're hitting a snag, let us know. We'll help you get to the bottom of this!

Appreciate you confirming that, Ron!

I dug around, and that error code seems to be related to a Microsoft issue. This third-party site might offer extra insight: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/870655/you-may-receive-an-error-code-80080005-server-execution-failed-error

Have no fear, though! A Studio '13 repair might do the trick–could you try these repair steps first and let me know what happens? Let me know if the message is still there after, I'll be here ready to keep digging! 🤞
