Another attachment question
Jan 31, 2012
I have been creating pdf attachments in Presenter 09 using the following method:
- create hyperlink in PowerPoint 03-07 using the format data/downloads/filename.pdf
- Attach file in Presenter using the Add Attachments feature
This method has been working well, however, my client now wants to have them displayed also under the Attachments tab. The reason for the change is because my client has requested that we also include slide handouts, so I saved the presentation as a PDF and added it using the method described above.
However, when I publish, I am unable to open any of the pdfs under the attachments tab. But I can view the same pdfs hyperlinked throughout the course..
I hope I am making sense (it's been a long day) - attachments work fine throughout the course, but not when I click on them under the Attachments tab.
Thanks, and I'm hoping that there is an easy fix!

Hi Diana,
Would you like to send us your project files so we can take a closer look and work with you to find a solution? If so, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:
Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help
Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
Articulate Support - Upload Your Files for Review
Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!
It might be the relative path where the PDFs reside. Try placing the PDFs in the root folder where the PPT resides and linking there. If that works, you'll need to re-link your hyperlinks (or have two sets of PDFs!).
Thanks Jim,
Unfortunately, I already tried that and wasn't successful.
I am really stumped as to why I can view the pdf when I click on the hyperlink from the slide, but if I try to open the exact same pdf from the Attachments tab, I get an error message.
Thanks again,
Diana
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm waiting on authorization from the client, then I will upload the Presenter package.
Thanks again,
Diana
Hey Diana,
Are you publishing or just previewing? I know that sometimes in preview the browser blocks the opening of these attachments. It usually does not on a publish though.
