Articulate Presenter Video Problem

May 21, 2013

Hey everyone, I have a question regarding Articulate Presenter, specifically adding/playing a flash video in a slide. As of now I have added five videos to my presentation, each of them being in their own slide. Once added, I was able to preview them and they ran perfectly fine. After exiting articulate and re-opening it at a later time, when I attempt to preview the slides with video no video comes up, and it will play the rest of the slides animations (apart from showing the video). The pptal file itself is over 500mb so I know the videos are there, I just don't understand why they will not playback after exiting articulate after originally adding them in. Thanks in advance for your help, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,

Josh

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Josh!

First, can you please confirm you're working with local project files?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Also, how are you inserting the Flash videos into your presentation? Please make sure you're using the steps suggested in this article for inserting Flash movies.

For more information regarding the use of Flash movies in Presenter '09 presentations, see Multimedia > Flash movie best practices.

Thanks and welcome again, Josh!

Yes this is a local project file that I am working with, it is located in the same folder that the videos (the five in the project) are located in. I inserted these videos using the flash movies button, and when I preview them after inserting them it works fine. But if I save and close the project and come back to it, and preview the slide with the video, the video never comes up.

Hi Joshua,

That sounds strange. Any chance you can share the videos or the project with us, so we can take a closer look at what's happening?
