Articulate 'Reporting and Tracking' Options - Pick 'em

Dec 13, 2011

Hello to all,

When using Articulate to create our SCORMS for Moodle 2.1.2, we publish them as SCORM 1.2.  There are a few options we have to sort out before we actually publish them though, and this is where some confusion arises.

The first question is in regards to the 'Title' and 'Identifier' fields.

I was advised for another issues I was having to only use lower case alphanumeric characters.  Is this the case when I publish for Moodle?

Also, what is best practice for the LMS Reporting Options in the drop down?  I have searched the forums and seem to get conflicting info based on the year of the post and Moodle version.  Currently, I just use the default passed/incomplete.

Many thanks!,

Dave

Hi Dave.

Typically you don't need to modify that information unless you are actually having an issue with a particular field so I would personally not bother messing with that.

Regarding the default setting or using a different setting, it really depends on how your LMS interprets the tracking info we send. For example, if you want someone to only take a course once whether they pass or fail, then usually you would just need to change the tracking to Passed/Failed. Passed/Incomplete should allow someone to retake a course until they pass and there are instances where you don't want that to happen.

The only reason you might want to change passed to Complete would be if your LMS asked you to. Otherwise you should be fine leaving that as Passed.
