Articulate Studio 13 and Android

Oct 02, 2013

Hello,

when Articulate released Storyline, one of the official compatibility statements was - the HTML5 distribution may or may not work on Android, however we officially do not support Android platform.

Question is this the same with the Studio'13, or does Articulate stand behing its product beyond iPad this time?

What about other platforms, like Blackberry and Kindle?

Thank you.

Hi Misha,

We still do not officially support Android, but I know that this is a common feature request and something our team is looking into for future releases.  You can find the current system viewing requirements here.

Also as described in this publishing article, the answer to "what publishing option should I choose if my users are on Android devices?" is included below

When you direct learners to the presentation.html file in your published output, they'll automatically see the best version for their device and browser. Most Android devices support Flash, so learners will have the best experience by viewing the Flash version of your presentation. If they're using a browser that doesn't support Flash, and if you included HTML5 output when you published, they'll see the HTML5 version instead. See this article for details on how this works.

Although your Presenter courses may work as expected on Android devices, Articulate doesn't officially support viewing content on Android devices or browsers.

Hi all,

Does someone know about the next 2 questions?

1.  In Storyline to distribute the published content i need to link to the story.html file, To which file should I link in Studio 13 output.

2. I would like to know How Articulate Studio 13 Distribute  Content for Flash, HTML5, and Articulate Mobile Player. Is

Below is how storyline does it, It´s the same for Articulate Studio 13?

Here’s how Storyline determines which version of your content to display when learners view it:

  • Learners will see the Flash version of your content if their browser supports it.
  • If they're using an iPad and if you chose the Articulate Mobile Player option when you published, they'll see a launch page that allows them to view the course in the iPad app. (And if they don't have the app installed on their iPad yet, they'll see an option to install it.)
  • If they're using an iPad and you didn't choose the Articulate Mobile Player option when you published, but you did choose HTML5, they'll see the HTML5 output in mobile Safari.
  • If they're using some other non-Flash compatible browser and you marked the HTML5 option, they'll see the HTML5 output. (For a list of supported browsers, click here.)

Here is the link with the infomation I have copied above: http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-distribute-articulate-storyline-content-for-flash-html5-and-articulate-mobile-player

Thanks in advance.

Hi Antonio and welcome to Heroes!

For Presenter 13, you'll link to the presentation.html file, for Quizmaker 13 you'll link to the quiz.html file, and for Engage 13 you'll link to the interaction.html file.

This article details how Presenter content is distributed for the iPad and HTML5, and how it determines which one to open.

Hi All,

We have purchased Studio 13 and working on migration of projects from Articulate presenter to Studio to provide html5 output. Currently we are in pre-sales with our customers to get a breakthrough. Now the problem is the whole course is not fitting in Android window (when we view from LMS). See attached screenshots. It works fine on iPad (see attached). Can you look into this issue and explain us please.

Thanks in Advance,

Sravan

Hi Sravan,

Not sure about the Studio, but given that studio now resembles Storyline a lot, you may want to try using what worked for me in Storyline - Scale player to fill browser window In the Player settings.

Just like Studio, Storyline officially does not support Android, but at least this helps the re-sizing issue.

Hi Ashley,

Does this hold true for Storyline 2 as well?  We currently have Studio 13 and Storyline but I'm looking to upgrade to Storyline 2.  Are there any limitations that impact user experience when on any mobile device?

We recently launched a course in an LMS and our students were having issues with the course freezing when the reached a quiz made in quizmaker.  We had not way of resetting the course so it became an issue.

Articulate support has been very helpful and it has been determined the course files are corrupt.

Thanks for your immediate response.

Hi Neil,

Storyline 2 does offer support for Android devices, and you can view the requirements here.

You can review the information here about publishing for mobile and conditions under which you could look at using the HTML5 output or the mobile player.

As for Studio '13, as per the viewing requirements, HTML5 output isn't currently supported on Android devices.
