Can't hear audio files

Jan 06, 2014

Hello.  I'm using Presenter 13.  I previously recorded audio files and then previewed them.  I could hear the audio.  However, now that I opened the presentation back up I don't seem to have any audio.

I say "seem" because when I click on the "record narration" button, there are different times listed for each slide that correspond with the audio I use to be able to hear.

Also when I click on the Audio editor - there is just a flat line.  No audio present.  Does anyone know how or where my audio files are?  Please don't tell me I need to record all of that narration again!

I did not publish the presentation or create an Articulate package.

Hi Peter and welcome to the community!

First thing I would recommend checking is the location of your project files. Try to make sure you're working locally, if possible.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

This article is for '09 and is for published content, but the old file recommendation and other tips may help with restoring the recorded narration.
