Can't Insert a mp4 created in screenr into Studio 13
Dec 23, 2014
We get a popup that says, "PowerPoint cannot insert a video from the selected file. Verify that the path and the file format are correct and also try installing the latest version of the Apple QuickTime Player..." Isn't it odd that a Windows product is asking for an Apple product?
The mp4 opens and plays in Windows Media Player. We also tried moving it from the file server to my desktop and then insert. Same message.
This video loaded into Studio 09 without issues.
Our computers are pretty locked down so will have to get permission to load Apple QuickTime (if we really need to). I didn't see anything about QuickTime on the system requirement page for Studio 13.
Do we have to load QuickTime or is there another solution for getting this video into Presenter?

Hi Darla,
You don't need Quicktime to work in Studio '13. You can see the system requirements here.
Can you share the mp4 file here with us?
Sure Ashley! Thanks for being willing to take a look. The mp4 is attached.
Hi Darla,
Thanks for sharing the video file. I downloaded it and was able to import it into my Presenter 13 file. I didn't receive any error messages or notices about Quicktime as you mentioned. I've attached a copy of the Presenter package - please let me know if you're able to download that one and access the video within it.
Thanks for getting back to us!
Yes, I can open and play the video in your Presenter package. What is the difference?
I inserted the video into a Storyline file and it worked just fine. No problems or error messages.
We tried inserting this video on 3 different computers yesterday (each with their own copy of Studio). We got the same message at each station. "PowerPoint cannot insert a video from the selected file. Verify that the path and the file format are correct and also try installing the latest version of the Apple QuickTime Player."
Our IT staff looked at the issue breifly. They suggested we update the codec and they download the latest codec package. We got the same message,
Hi Darla,
Are you following the directions here to insert an MP4? Or are you inserting it from the Powerpoint insert method? Also what version of Office are you using?
Oh! Such a simple answer! You are the best puzzle solver. You are right. We were using PowerPoint's insert tab instead of the Articulate tab.
Thanks for being there for us.
Happy to help Darla.
