Elapsed Time Problem

Sep 22, 2011

I have a simple 5 slide presentation.  I've imported one audio file in the audio editor and set my slide positions in the one audio file.  Slide 1 ends at 44 seconds.  When I publish or preview, Articulate is adding 4 additional seconds to the end of the slide...it doesn't make for a good transition.  Also, I see in the elapsed time counter at the top, left of the player that it will hit 48 seconds at the end of slide 1, then when slide two starts, it backs up several seconds and then continues to count.  What could cause this?

My first thought would be a frame rate issue, but there is not any video in this presentation.  I did record the audio with Camtasia which by default is set to 20 frames per second, but that shouldn't affect the audio I imported, but just for kicks, I did try to change the Articulate frame rate setting from 30 to 20, but that had no affect on the problem.  Stumped for the moment.

Hi Brock,

In your Articulate menu, click on Presentation Options & then select the Publish tab.  In the "Slides without audio" field, put 0 seconds.  In the "On mouse click animations without set timings display after" field, put 0 seconds.  Finally, republish your presentation.

Yeah...I tried that solution as well...no animations in the program.  I found out the problem, even though I don't really understand why it creates my scenario, but I happened to notice the little speaker icon on the slide which indicates that the person who sent me the PP presentation had recorded audio on this slide.  When I run the slide show, I hear his audio as it was embedded in the presentation.  Now, the audio runs for a couple of minutes.    When I delete the speaker icon from the slide, it works perfectly.  Now, why embedded audio that runs for several minutes adds 4 seconds to the end of my imported audio, I really don't know, but at least I found the solution.  Thanks!
