How to stop a video from automatically starting

Oct 31, 2012

I published a video using Articulate Encoder, and it worked, but it starts automatically. I want the user to be able to start the video after reading the intro text - is there a way to have a start (play) button option?

Good morning Susan! Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

There is a great option in Presenter that will allow the creator to delay the start of a video. It doesn't create a start or play button, but you could set it so that it doesn't start immediately. This way the users will have time to read the introduction you've provided.

This is the original tutorial on the topic.

Here's the information for delaying the start of a video in Presenter '09:

Movie plays independently of slide:  If your movie contains lots of interactivity and clickable options, this is the best choice. If you choose this option, you can also set a buffer time in the Start Flash movie field to delay the appearance of the movie on the slide by however many seconds you choose.

If you would like information on how to get to these properties, take a look a the full tutorial.

I hope this information helps! If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Have a great day,

Christine
