Inconsistency in SWF files showing in Published course

Hi - I've created a Studio course with swf files inserted on individual slides. After publishing..., at random, some of the swf files on certain slides show up with a Red background.

It is inconsistent... as in the swf slides that show up okay for me, but show up with the Red background for a colleague. While some other slides show up with a Red background for me but show up okay for my colleague.

I don't have the source FLA files to republish the swfs. But I did attach a screenshot for your reference.

Is there a solution?

Thanks,

Sanjay Khilnani

Hi Sanjay,

I'm afraid the image you posted is a little too small - I cannot tell how this project is being viewed.

Is this inconsistency happening during previewing for you an your colleague, or after publishing?

If it's happening while previewing, please make sure your project files are on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If this only happens after publishing, please make sure that you're not viewing the project locally. Try uploading the project to a web server or LMS. If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

If you don't have access to a web server or LMS, you could try publishing for CD. Just keep in mind that when you want to run this project locally, you'll want to run the EXE file, not HTML.

If you're still having trouble and you're viewing this in a web server or LMS, can you tell me if you're using the same web browser as your colleague? Which browsers are you using? Have you tried viewing the project in a different browser?

Thanks!
