Insert video getting active x error - Studio 13, ppt office 13
Jan 27, 2016
Hi,
When I try to embed a video file into articulate studio I get a message saying my active x MS office settings aren't right. I have followed the knowledge base article but no luck.
So I have checked the settings in powerpoint, uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash, done a repair on office, reinstalled studio. I have tried creating a brand new ppt file and putting the video in. Tried a different video. Tried creating a flash version of the video and inserting flash object.
I have contacted my IT people, then the Omniplex people in the UK and they don't know.
My colleague in the US (I am in the UK) is now having the same problem with a slightly different build of Studio (she is on 13 v 6, I am on 13 v 7).
If anyone has seen this before and found a solution I would be very, very grateful. At this point I am a bit stuffed as I need to embed 3 .mp4 files into a presentation for my boss and am baffled.
Two other pieces of info...
1. I have done this successfully in the past.
2. If I just use ppt > insert > video it works, but then when I publish it in articulate it is just a still image with no player. So I know the video is ok.
Help!!
Sam

Hi Jo,
This issue has been prioritized internally. I do not have any indication of a fix or timeline to share though.
I can understand deadlines, so I'd like to help you out with that.
Were you able to check out the solution that Crystal shared above? I'll link it again here for you. It's a solution from Microsoft to get around this issue in the meantime and hopefully meet your time requirements.
Hi All,
Our computer guy tried the fix but still not working.
This is getting a little too much now. What do you want the instructors developers to do as this must be resolved somehow?
Can you offer us another program that will work like it should.
Thanks and please assist Mark Roduner
Hi Mark,
I took a peek into your case, and I see we recommended that you try enabling ActiveX settings in PowerPoint. Are those the steps you already tried?
Also, can you confirm what version of Microsoft Office is installed on your computer?
I am encountering the identical problem in Articulate '13 as the original poster. My Articulate Software is up-to-date, Microsoft Office is up-to-date, Windows is up-to-date, Flash is up-to-date, Macros are fully enabled, and ActiveX is fully enabled. I've gone through every potential troubleshooting procedure I could find and think of. I've inserted videos this way many, many times before, and am now trying to make critical updates to a module for a client. It looks like this thread has still not been updated with a fix. Please advise.
