Issues with videos not loading

Apr 08, 2014

I have been working with Presenter 13 to create a short elearning project. To supplement some of the slides I used Replay to create some short (1 minute at most) MP4 videos which I them embedded in the project.

When I published it and tested locally everything worked fine, but after having it hosted on our server none of the videos are loading, the player seems to load, but clicking play does nothing.

Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong?

Hi Scott and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

Be sure that you are viewing your content as your learner would.

If you view published Articulate Presenter content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features to fail. To test your content and share it with others, you'll need to upload it to the environment for which it was published. Here's how.

If MP4 videos do not display when your Articulate content is hosted on a server, it's likely that the server is not configured to play these files. Check out this article.

I've been in touch with our SysAdmin and he has set up the appropriate MIME type for the content so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

After further investigation it seems the videos are returning a 404 error. Which doesn't make sense as the MP4 files are definitely on the server and in the correct folder.

We're at a bit of a loss to explain what is going on at this point. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
