Just Noise

Jul 18, 2011

I created a PowerPoint presentation which includes text, graphics, videos and animations.\

I then created a sound file for each slide in Adobe Soundbooth as a wav file

I imported the audio files using Artiuculate Import audio feature

After Publishing all I hgear is LOUD NOISE.

What can be wrong?

Hi Alberto and welcome to Elearning Heroes!

That's a common issue when audio is saved in one of the non-recommended formats. The good news: it's an easy fix.

Just make sure you export/Save as... using the following audio settings:

  • Bit rate: 16 bit
  • Sampling: 44 khz
  • Encoding: uncompressed

I use Soundbooth and the default sampling is usually 48 so I'd check that one to be sure you're saving as 44.

Hi Dwayne - you may already know this, but just wanted to mention for anyone else who reads this thread. You can adjust the quality of the audio in Presentation Options to get CD-quality sounding audio. Just update the the compression from Optimize for Web Delivery to Custom and select one of the higher bit rates.

But to your comment, I hope you'll consider submitting a feature request so we can formally track the need: http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/feature/

Thank you all for the valuable input. I used Soundbooth to record the files and they are indeed 48 Khertz.

Next question: How do I convert them to 44 Khz without having to re-record them. I looked in Soundbooth and could not find a way to do it.

Also: when setting Soundbooth's default parameters for other files is it better to just select 16 Bit - 44 Khz or should I use the option "Optimized for Flash Video" which uses 44.1 Khz?
