LMS closing issue

Oct 26, 2016

Our client has raised an issue saying

"When you exit out of the module prior to finishing, it incorrectly populates in the Learning History rather than stay in the Current Learning"

and we approached our technical guy and he explained it like

"This is controlled from within the content.  Most content authoring tools have a parameter that can be set within it to communicate back to the LMS when an item should be marked complete. Typically it is set to a certain score (if content includes a scoring quiz) or by number of slides viewed.  When this value is reach within the content, the completion status passed by the content back to the LMS would be = C (for complete). "

Basically the issue is like when the trainer closing the module in middle and the status is LMS is showing like course completed rather than showing "in progress" how to get rid of this issue please explain.

Hi Nivas,

From your description, I'm not clear on what problem you are actually experiencing. But I can suggest a couple of things for you to check.

When you select the Publish button to publish your content to the LMS take a look at the LMS Output options. This is at the bottom of the Publish screen. Select how you want your scores to report the the LMS from the dropdown. For example, SCORM 2004, Tin Can or etc. The click the Reporting and Tracking button. At the bottom of this screen, select the reporting status that you want to see.

Now select the Tracking tab on the left. This is where you can select the options that you mentioned above. If you don't have a quiz, select the number of slides you want your users to complete before that can receive a completion. If you do have a quiz, select the second option, and select the results slide for your quiz. If you don't have a results slide for your quiz, then you will need to return to your quiz, and create a results slide. The results slide will let you choose which questions you need to report in your quiz.

I hope this helps you some.

Hello Nivas!  Just to substantiate what Dave is describing, here's the article from our User Guide on publishing for LMS; you'll find the "Choose Reporting and Tracking Options" section helpful.

Also, we have an article on when a course submits completion status to an LMS that might be handy too.  Finally, this article will help to differentiate between the four reporting statuses that can be sent to the LMS.

Good luck!
