LMS scoring problem

Jan 16, 2014

Hello,

We published a quiz with 80% passing mark and 2 attempts for the user. We uploaded the scorm file to the LMS, and weird instance of user failing the first attempt with 70% score and then getting 70% failing score again on the second attempt but LMS still marks it as "completed" and then shows a "87" total points score on the report. It's weird since a questions is worth 10 points each and it would be impossible for them to get 87 total points.

Any ideas on why this happens?

Hi Miguel,

Can you tell us if you're using Studio '09 or '13, please?

Also, have you tested your course in SCORM Cloud

This would help us determine if the issue is Articulate related or if it's on your LMS's side.

If you're using AICC content please take a look at the article below for testing information:

Articulate Support - Testing Studio '13 AICC content at SCORM Cloud

Articulate Support - Testing Studio '09 AICC content at SCORM Cloud

If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team.

The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

We tested the course on the SCORM Cloud and got these results:

1st attempt:

Launched course, failed 1st attempt of quiz 70%, clicked retry, then failed it again at 70% and exited:

status: failed, score: 70%

2nd attempt:

Launched course, failed 1st attempt of quiz 70%, clicked retry, on the 1st question of the 2nd attempt, exited the course:

status: failed, score: 77%

this is weird.

In our LMS, the 2nd attempt gave the user a score of 87% and status as passed. Any idea on why this is happening?

hello,

We created a new course and still had the same problem.

If a user fails the quiz on the first attempt, and then clicks retry and then exits the course without finishing the quiz, user gets a passing score on the LMS.

If anyone has the same problem, please share what you did to resolve this please. We need urgent help.

Thank you.
