Lost Fonts on PPT
Dec 19, 2012
When working in Microsoft Power Point under Presenter. My user chooses such Fonts as Adobe Gothic Std B, Adobe anything font. Articulate makes the words disappear. (Please see attached) The words are there but are being hidden. I have repaired Office 2010, repaired Adobe Acrobat and disabled Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0 and 4.0.0. Still nothing. We are running Mircrosoft XP SP3, Office 2010, Articulate Presenter '09 and Adobe Acrobat X Pro. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi Craig. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Thanks for the screenshot. Sounds like you already tried a few fonts, but have you tried using anything other than the Adobe fonts? Try using Arial and see if it makes a difference.
I see that you're using Office 2010 - please make sure you're using the 32-bit installation of Office and not the 64-bit.
Another thing to check would be DPI. This can cause some issues with text and may even make it disappear. Take a look at this article and see if the steps provided resolve the issue.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,
Christine
Hi Christine,
Thanks for the quick response. All Microsoft and Articulate Fonts do work i.e Arial, Articulate Thin . My user would like to use the Adobe fonts for this presentation.
I am using MS Office 2010 32 Bit.
Also my DPI settings are set to 96.
Thanks,
Craig
I also have more information from my user that she has tried Hobo Font, the Plain font works but when the user add's Shadows and other outlines the Font does the exact same thing with disappearing. Hope this is a little more information.
Hi Craig,
Thanks for getting back to me
It sounds like it may be an issue with the fonts. If the user prefers these fonts, they may need to make sure they actually have the fonts installed on the machine, or try to re-install the fonts. An easier alternative would be for the user to try a similar font from another family.
Also, if the font was showing up before, it may be related to a Microsoft Update that was recently released. This update seems to effect quite a few fonts. You might want to have your user check to see if the the KB2753842 update was installed on their machine. The steps for removing this update can be found in this article (please note that even though it says Storyline, the instructions are still the same for Presenter).
Thanks again, Craig!
Christine
