Manifest not found

Oct 02, 2017

Dear all,

lately I am experiencing problems updloading my projects created via Articulate Studio 13.

After publishing and saving the zip-file I cannot upload it into our LMS.

I get the error message: manifest not found. However after searching the zip folder I can see the xml file: imsmanifest

Furthermore, even if this error message does nut pup up, I am not able to validate the file.

So, either I cannot upload the file at all or I can upload it as long as I don't try to validate it.

These error message are pretty new and I have not changed anything in my creation procedure.

Nay hints would be great!

Kind regards

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulty with this.

To expand on Brian's comment above, I would be sure to zip your content directly in the 'Publish Successful' dialog box.

You mention 'lately' as well, so you may want to test uploading to SCORM Cloud to see if that is successful, then follow-up with your LMS if needed.

Hi Brian, hi Leslie,

many thanks for your swifr replies. I am Kind of desperate here since I am not able to figure out what is going on.

So far, have published my projects as follows:

Usually this works out pretty well. Therefore, I have no idea what I have to change.

@ Leslie: Sorry but where can I find the "publish successful" Dialog box?

Kind regards and thanks for your hints.

Dear Leslie,

thanks for your support. I think I am going crazy here. I Have published my project again and the following pop up says that it has been succesful:

However, I cannot upload it to our LMS as the manifest file cannot be found:

After this window appears I just click on zip. After a few seconds the zip-file has been saved locally and I switch to our LMS. There, I open up the course and click on "add scorm module" and the error message appears.

This is really embarassing but I am totally lost.

Does anybody know a step by step description? I have searched the net myself but could not find any solution for this problem.

Kind regards

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca - Looks like you shared the zipped published output versus the project file, but nonetheless...it published without error for me. You can see my published output here.

On that note, I think it would be best to follow up with your LMS team because your zip file is good. You're uploading that same zip file to your LMS when you get the error?

I know that's not the answer you wanted from me, but I hope they will be able to quickly assist you.

Oh no! Are you able to upload other files? Have you tried republishing the file to see if that helps? Are you saving in a local location?

I searched to make sure I wasn't overlooking something, and the zip process is typically the culprit.

If you see a message that the manifest can't be found when launching a course in your learning management system (LMS), it's likely that the SCORM output wasn't properly zipped. An LMS won't be able to find the imsmanfest.xml file for a course if it's not at the root level of the zip file. To correct it, do either of the following:

  • Use the built-in Zip feature on the Publish Successful dialog after you've published your Articulate content. It'll automatically create a well-formed zip file.
  • If you manually zip the output files, make sure to only zip the contents of the output folder, not the folder itself.

Hi Leslie,

I uploaded my project on SCORM Cloud and it worked.

The Articulate Support keeps telling me that the LMS is the problem. However, the external LMS Support keeps telling me that it must be the Articulate Software. ...

Thus, I am trying to follow the instrcuctions you send me above. Can you explain waht the "root level of a zip-file" is and where to find it?

I would like to try to zip the project manually as suggested above. But I have no clue how to do that. Which files do I have to zip and in which order?

The Content of my zip-file looks like that:

Do you have any idea where to start?

Sorry for asking again.

Kind regards

Rebecca
