I dont think there is a set maximum, I would try not to go beyond 150 slide though.
I have had a course with 200 slides and publish times were a nightmare.
I find it better to chunk the information into ideally 15 minute segments, also if you are using anything beow scorm 2004 3rd edition you will want to reduce the number of slides asit is likely you will hit the charactyer limit of scorm
Thanks. I've got a presentation that is 650 slides. Is there a good way to break up the presentation into individual PPTs that mimic the sections of the course. I'm looking specifically for ways to allow navigation between the different sections. If there's a training module that explains how to do it that you've come across would be helpful.

One more thing... The course will be served up by an LMS so whatever multiple module solution would need to work in that environment.
