We have some Camtasia files that are saved as MP4 files.
In Articulate Presenter, I use the hyperlink to link out to these files.
When I place them in Absorb, the hyperlink works, however, instead of seeing a pop up window over the slide (which is what I want), a new browser page opens to display the file. This is too confusing for the end user, because they then have to close the tab.
Note: The same thing happens when we use Attachments. As well, we cannot use the Attachment option because we don't want the end user to be able to save the file.
Does anyone know of a way for the MP4 file to pop up instead of opening a new browser window?
You can set the video to open within the slide or in a new browser window. I'm not sure what you mean by "pop up" though - so I wanted to point you in the direction of how to add videos from websites here.
Hi Ashley
I cannot fine the option you are speaking about.
When I say pop up, I mean within the slide.
If I don't publish the file to a LMS, the video launches from the same
slide and plays without opening a new tab
However when I publish to a LMS, when the video is launched, it
immediately opens up into a new browser window.
The option Show Video In slide is automatically set by default in
Articulate presenter so that is not the problem.
If you are only experiencing this issue within your LMS, it sounds like it may be a setting within your LMS.
You are welcome to test your content in SCORM Cloud if you wish to confirm, but if you are not able to replicate the issue there, you may need to look to your LMS team.
What I would like to do is the following:
I have a camtasia file that is 1024 x 768. I saved it as a MP4 file.
I cannot choose the option "Display in slide" for the video because the
video is fuzzy once played. I assume that its because the player border or
something is squishing the video file a bit. Is this true?
So with the other option "to open a new browser window" I wanted the new
browser window to sit on top of the existing window. instead of opening a
new* tab. That is what I meant by a pop up window. Then the video file is
crystal clear.*
Any suggestions?
If I record the Camtasia videos slightly smaller how much smaller will they
need to be in order to compensate for the border or whatever it is that is
causing the fuzziness?
Hi Barb! Weather the content 'pops-up' in a new tab or new browser is dependent on your browser settings.
I'm not familiar with the 'fuzziness' you are reporting here related to your Camtasia video, so perhaps other users would have best practices for utilizing this.

I am sure this is dependent on browser settings, if you can set a size to the browser window then it should open in a new window
Oops sorry looks like you cannot set the window size
Hi Phil,
Not sure what you mean.
I have a 1024 x 768 sized MP4 file that I want to pop-up instead of opening
a new browser window when I launch it.
