Multiple linked powerpoint files with linked video in each

Aug 22, 2014

I have multiple linked PowerPoint presentations drilling down from a master presentation.

Each PP presentation contains linked video, word files or pdf files. Using PP I can pack the presentation into one folder so it can be moved from location to location and the links stay intact. How do I publish using Articulate studio so that all files are published at once and stay linked? Then I start one file and can seamlessly move from one to the other without the using knowing they are multiple files. If I use the PP Articulate add-in can I do this?

Leslie,

Maybe I should back up.

I've done a lot of live training but never actually created e-learing documents and have been ask to convert the live training documents I have to e-learning so they can be used as needed from multiple locations. To do it correctly I'm learning that much more needs to be changed than a mere conversion of the pp presentations.

I haven't looked into Storyline.

Would the direction I'm going be more suited for Storyline instead of Presenter?

Multiple linked training presentations, linked documents, linked video, etc

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob! If you are starting with Powerpoint Presentations, I'm sure that Presenter would be the best fit for you. I'm not sure what you mean by having them linked. You can add documents to your projects and they can include video as well.

Where are you planning on hosting your published content? Why does your content need to be 'linked'?

Good afternoon,

I'm working on maintenance mechanic training for production plants.

I have ~25 separate training modules (presentations) at this point and may end up with 35 or 40; each covering a different topic.

But when viewed I need the mechanic to be able to go to the topic he is interested in at that time.

So he opens one presentation and can navigate from there to any topic he is interested in.

Some topics have sub topics. The presentations also have some imbedded pictures and may link to videos I created for training.

With PP I am able to 'publish to CD' (actually a folder on my PC) and all files are copied to this location and the linking is kept in tack with all linked files. But I wanted to be able to publish to something different than PP; such as web browser and make this available on a corporate network. Also work with other files, etc. and I thought Presenter seemed like the perfect option. I also liked the available features in Presenter that are not easily available in PowerPoint or not available at all.

You can see the number of PP files I have now and the file sizes.

After this you can see how the branching is handled, each arrow leads to a different presentation.

I just tried publishing a PP presentation that only linked a video and not another PP presentation.

At first the linked video did not work in the browser but once I copied the video file into the new folder created by Presenter it worked.

I copied the video in this folder created by Presenter. Apparently when Presenter creates the new output file in a new folder it does not bring the linked files along.

Not sure how much this helps me but at least I now understand that.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Bob
