New play/launch button doesn't start audio when using Chrome on Mobile devices

Mar 13, 2019

Hi all!

I recently republished several modules to ensure that they would display the play button (that Articulate added) to prevent audio issues when using Chrome. The play/launch button now appears but when I view the modules in Chrome on a mobile device, the audio still does not play, despite the Play button to launch. If the user pauses the module and then hits the play button, the audio starts up. (I tried to search the forums but couldn't find anyone experiencing a similar issue).

Thank you!!!

Hi Lauren,

I haven't found any similar issues reported either - so I'd like to know a bit more about your setup!

  • What version of Presenter are you using to publish?
  • What mobile devices and OS are you using?
  • How does the course launch on desktop Chrome or within other browsers such as Safari on iOS?
  • What pause/play button are they pressing to allow the audio to start, is that within the player?

If you're able to share a link to your course, that'll help me test and answer a few of the questions above as well.

Hi Ashley!

  • Articulate 360
  • iphone 8 plus  ios 11.2.5 ( I experienced the same issue on an ipad but I don't have that information with me right now)
  • Desktop Chrome it works as expected. Same with Safari on iOS
  • If the course is paused and then played using the  play/pause button on the player the audio will begin. It's as if the play button that Articulate created is not being "honored" by the Chrome app as the user engaging the module to allow the audio to start

I'm not sure how to send you a link to the course.  These are being viewed through an LMS.

Thank you!
