Odd Flash button behavior...

Hi everyone, I've used Flash interactions within Articulate Presenter lots of times before and never come across the following problem...

I have a swf (single frame on the main timeline containing all of the other elements), which contains initially two buttons.  One button alters the alpha of a movie clip on the stage, the other has a play() for another movie clip on the stage.  When I insert this swf into Presenter and press the buttons, the one on the right takes me to the next slide and the one on the left takes me to the previous slide!

I haven't used any _root references and I haven't even used a PlayPrevious() anywhere in the movie!

If anyone has any suggestions, I (and the hair I'm currently pulling out) would be eternally grateful...
