Platinum Membership Question

I have a question about the Platinum Membership Plan if anyone can help clarify.

My trial is over, and I'm ready to buy.  Obviously with all the talk of the new version coming "soon", it's tempting to hold out, but I just can't.  I've got a huge project that can't wait.

I think I understand the Platinum Membership Plan, but I'm confused about just one part.  In the description, it talks about how you qualify for "one free upgrade" for the 1-year plan, "two free upgrades" with the 2-year plan, and "three free upgrades" with the 3-year plan.

The point I need clarification on is this....The plan (and your ability to redeem any upgrades) will expire after the purchase term, correct?  Or will, for example, the "3-year plan" allow me 3 upgrades, regardless of how long it takes before those upgrades become available?  What if the "3rd upgrade" doesn't even become available until 6 years from now?

Right now, I see the benefit of the 1-year plan, as the next version is on the horizon.  But if there is no reason to believe that 3 upgrades will even be possible within the next 3 years, and the 3-year plans upgrade redemptions expire in 3 years.....am I the only one questioning the manner in which this is worded?
