PowerPoint stops after closing after Articulate 13 upgrade

Mar 11, 2014

I just upgraded to Articulate 13 yesterday.  Now every time I close PPT I get an error message that says Microsoft PowerPoint has stopped working.  I have Office 07 and am on Service Pack 3 so I meet the minimum requirements for Articulate 13. Thanks for any tips/help!

Same thing has been happening to me today.

I did reinstall Articulate but now I am unable to see the screen cursor when trying to sync animations.

It's always something! An extra 4-5 hours of trying to make things work these past 2 days.

I would be interested to hear some real solutions besides reinstalling everything. It's obvious that really can't be the problem with everyone!

Hi Jennifer and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

When creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Presenter '13 courses, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information.

We do find that most of these issues are limited to individual instances, PCs and installs as these errors are not able to be reproduced.

Errors within one file that cannot be reproduced in a new file could indicate corruption in a particular file.

Errors that occur across any presentation could indicate that there is an issue with your install, either of Articulate or Microsoft Office, which is why we recommend this article (starting with the repair).

Leslie,

Thank you so much for your reply.  I have been an Articulate 09 user for 4 years.  I never ever work on files that are not on my hard drive. I have Office 2007 and haven't upgraded versions recently.  The only thing that I have done new that could be causing my issue is the upgrade to Articulate 13.  Ever since then, when I close PPT it crashes and then restarts itself.  It doesn't matter what I do or what document I open.  I have even launched PPT without opening any files and then just immediately closed it and it still crashes.  I have reinstalled Articulate 13 twice now.  I have looked for any Windows OS or Office updates and there are none.  My system is up to date.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Jennifer

An update to my last post.  I uninstalled '13 and the crashing stopped.  I also noticed that even though during the initial '13 installation process it said it was uninstalling previous Studio versions that '09 is still on my computer.  I have tried to uninstall through my Control Panel menu but it only gives me the option to install.  I can uninstall '13 but not '09.  I even reinstalled '09 to see if it would then let me uninstall but to no avail.  Any help/guidance would be appreciated!
