Presenter Crashes ALL THE TIME

Jul 10, 2012

Hi Guys,

A quick moan and rant.

I have studio 09 installed on our computer and I am using presenter to simply label up a power point slide show using slide properties and publish it for our LMS.

This makes my computer freeze everytime I try it. When I start power point, it tells me that the articulate ribbon caused power point to crash and if I want to keep the articualte ribbon active.

The answer is yes, but I then get the same problem occuring.

I have tried unistalling and reinstalling studio 09, but this has little or no effect on the problem. When using power point without the articulate ribbon active it works fine. My computer is working perfectly.

Im really confused with this, the email support I have been getting from the articualte people direct me to online help pages, I have tried what they have suggested multiple times with no change in outcome.

Looking through all the support pages and trying AGAIN expecting a different outcome would be Einsteins definition of crazy, I am going crazy.

HELP!

I can up load screen shots should anyone want to help me. Thanks a bunch for reading, please help.

Welcome to Heroes, Rob, and really sorry to hear about the difficulty you're running into. It looks like in your support case, Gren suggested the steps in this article, but it sounds like you've tried those steps without success, is that right? Historically, we've been able to resolve these types of issues, but sometimes we just need a little more information. Do you still have the support email from us? If so, please reply to it with additional details, such as your PowerPoint version, system information, and the steps you're taking to replicate the issue. Please let me know if you no longer have the correspondence from our support team and I'll be happy to get them back in touch with you.

Again, thanks for your patience, and I'm confident we will be able to work with you to get your Articulate software functioning properly.

Hi Peter,

I have uninstalled Microsoft Office and reinstalled articulate and ms office, I have now finished that process for the second time. This has not solved the issue.

What I am trying to do is really really simple as well. Simply label the slides inside Presenter, all it does is crash. I’m now typing this message with a frozen PowerPoint screen.

I’m using Windows 7, with all the latest updates and service packs. I have downloaded articulate and activated it using the code provided on purchase.

This is a solid let down and a waste of time using articulate.

Again, sorry for the trouble, Rob. It sounds like you're running into a known issue with Presenter's Slide Properties. If you leave Slide Properties open for an extended period of time, you may find that PowerPoint and the Slide Properties Manager become unresponsive.  Please review this article for more information and a solution. Thanks for your patience.

Hey Rob,

Glad that helped. And I wish I could tell you why it causes PowerPoint to stick, but I honestly don't know the answer to that. Seems almost like the communication between PowerPoint and Articulate just gets lost after awhile, and things go haywire from there.

Sorry again for all the trouble you had to deal with before getting to that solution. Let us know if you run into further issues and we'll be happy to help. Thanks!
