publishing ends up in very large file - to large.

May 14, 2012

Today I made a véry basic course, some 30 slides with nothing more then a background, a picture and an shape with text. No engage, quiz or whatever. In the PPT it is 2300 kb. Published to zip it ends up at 44000 kb.

I have another file, about the same size, and that one remained small in the zip.

How do I make the zip small? I can't upload such a large file to moodle.

- no audio

- pictures are resized and lowered on quality to 75%

- no video etc

And... do I have a slow computer or does publishing take long for everyone? (10 - 15 min for 30 slides) I read somewhere about a masterslide to speed things up, but couldn't find anything on that topic.

Thanks for your replies!

Hi Sin!

You may want to try adjusting your publish settings to see if that reduces your file size.

And when you publish a presentation with Articulate Presenter '09, each element of a slide is included in a .SWF file. If you build a presentation that contains a common element or background image on each slide without using master slides, that same element would need to be downloaded multiple times throughout the presentation. However, if that element is included in a master slide, it will only need to be downloaded once.

For information on how to create a master slide and apply it to your presentation, please take a look at this KB article.
