Apr 10, 2013

Hey guys I am trying to publish my first course, I chose to publish to zip but it does not zip the file and I do not get an actualy articulate file, I am using parallels and the trial version, does this matter?

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Chuck!

The version of the software shouldn't matter, no. First, I'd recommend restarting your machine, if you haven't already.

Are you publishing from a local file? If not, that may be why this is happening.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you still have trouble with this, try creating a new, blank presentation and publish the file. Does the same thing happen?

Also, what option are you choosing when you publish (before you use the .ZIP option)? I'm assuming you're publishing for "Web", correct? Try changing the directory you're publishing to (you can try your desktop, if you'd like) and see if that helps.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Christine
