Suspend data / Quiz retry issue

hi there, was the issue with suspend_data file being filled up on a quiz retry been resolved or is there a workaround. This issue has been present with Articulate for as long I remember now!
It happens when you allow the Retry Quiz option in an assessment. When you retry the quiz and then exit the course, return to it again, the menu is then appearing blank! This is happening when the course is residing on an LMS.
The only way I could normally get around is to set the quiz to just 1 attempt and then make the user select the assessment from the menu. I now have a request from a client to have only 3 attempts. But this requires a retry quiz option and hence the suspend_data issue happens.

Hi there Greg!
There are a couple of suspend data issues, but I'm not sure which would affect your course in the way you're describing.
Here's one that was resolved quite a while ago:
The original release of Quizmaker '09 produced suspend_data that was compressed. Therefore if you viewed the suspend_data that was being sent by a quiz, it would appear to be non-ASCII characters. This suspend_data was actually compressed ASCII characters. You can learn more about this issue here:
http://www.articulate.com/forums/articulate-quizmaker/8030-scorm-problems-09-a.html
We have since updated Quizmaker '09 so that the suspend_data is no longer compressed. Please download and install the latest version here:
http://www.articulate.com/downloads/freetrial-step3.aspx
After installing the latest update, republish your quizzes.
Here's another:
Exceeding SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 2nd Edition limits for suspend data
However, to me it sounds like it may be LMS-related. You mentioned this happens when you have the course loaded in your LMS, but have you tested this outside of the LMS? If you'd like, you could test the course in SCORM Cloud. This would help us determine if the issue is Articulate related or if it's on your LMS's side.
If you're using AICC content please take a look at the article below for testing information:
Articulate Support - Testing AICC content at SCORM Cloud
Thanks Greg! Let me know how it turns out.
Thanks Christine. I'll test it with the newer version of Quizmaker.
Also, is it possible to allow only 3 attempts on the final quiz? I.e. if the user attempts it twice and returns to the course they still only have 1 attempt? Currently when the user returns it seems to reset the quiz so they can try it 3 times again.
Hi there Greg,
Thanks for getting back to me :) Hopefully that update will improve things.
For your question, you can, but it really depends on how you're sharing the project. Are you creating this quiz as a standalone Quizmaker quiz, or are you inserting the quiz into Presenter?
If you're sharing the project as a standalone quiz, you can control the attempts of the questions, but not the entire quiz.
If, however, you're inserting the quiz into a Presenter project, you can control the amount of times users can attempt the entire quiz.

Thanks!
Thanks again Christine.
hi Christine,
On that link you provided to update Quizmaker, (http://www.articulate.com/freetrial) it just brings me to the General Articulate download site. Is there a specific download for Quizmaker itself?
I installed the Trial version of the SCORM Cloud and the same issues that appear on my own LMS are appearing here!
Here are the issues.
you would also need to set the number of attempts in your LMS (if this is possible).
Studio can only limit the attempts within that instance if you reload and do not resume then this will be reset, some LMS's give you the option of setting attempts in the LMS
Thanks Phil. I didn't realise the LMS had to be changed in order to control the quiz attempts.
But, the suspend_data issue still looks like it's not resolved as per my issues above. I.e. it's not possible to allow a Retry Quiz option when it's on the LMS.
