Using a quiz to gate training? Opt in/out question?

May 08, 2018

Hey all-

I have a training module with a quiz at the beginning (Using Quizmaker + Presenter). My quiz has one survey question, that asks the user if they need to have a license to a particular opt in/out system. If the user opts in, they take the training, but if they opt out they don't have to and the module should end + show as completed for them in the LMS.

The problems are:

1) I can't get the quiz to pass the user along to the training if they choose "opt in"

2) How can I show the training as completed for the LMS if the user chooses "opt in" and goes through the training? Would I need another quiz at the end to wrap the training up?

Thanks!

Hi there, Chris!  You're wondering about all the right things.  Articulate can send either one quiz score or one completion status based on slides viewed to your LMS.  If the completion of your entire course is determined at the opt in/out stage, adding another quiz at the end of the assessment won't change the status.

Here are a couple of considerations that might help the E-Learning Heroes community give you some direction in setting this course up:

  • Were you thinking of having a quiz at the end to evaluate your learners who take the course?
  • Could you instead use a content slide to opt in or out?  You could put the assessment that reports to the LMS at the end of the presentation if it is something that both groups of people could answer.  If they opt out, a hyperlink could get them to the assessment rather than going through all the content slides.

Hi Crystal-

There would not be an additional quiz at the end to evaluate.

I think creating a hyperlink will be the most elegant answer, with the opt in/out quiz at the end. The goal is to have the reporting from the quiz in the LMS be pulled and sent to the license vendor so they can assign or revoke licenses.

I'll test this method, thank you!
