I should actually add to this. I went back into Encoder... it doesn't appear that the audio was imported into Encoder to begin with. The movie file itself (.avi) does have audio that works on it's own. Once I import into VE, the audio disappears.
I apologize for the delay in response. I see that you were able to open a support case for this issue (00306358). It looks like Miker was working with you on the case and suggested updating the codec packs. Did this resolve the problem you had with the audio?
