How to put copy in Quiz popup?
Mar 28, 2012
I have a series of one-question quizzes. I want the student to submit an answer before going ahead, so I have set the properties such that the user is allowed to leave the quiz after completing the quiz.
When a user tries to leave the quiz without submitting an answer, the player grays over and offers a popup with an "OK" button. I would like to insert a message in that popup to tell the student to select and answer and click submit -- how do I edit that popup? Thanks for the help!

Hey Curtis!
You'll want to go to Player Templates -> Edit -> Text Labels, then scroll down to the text box containing the message you'd like to change and edit to whatever you'd like.
Thanks, Peter. Can you help me determine which box goes with the property setting that keeps a user from advancing before completing the quiz? Could it be ? I appreciate the help very much.
Sure, Curtis
Sounds like it might be box #32, but if you notice that any of your boxes are blank and you want to restore them to the default message, an easy way to do that is to re-select "English" in the drop-down menu:
Excellent, Peter. Box 32 did the trick. Thanks again for the great help you folks provide!
You got it, Curtis! Happy to help
Although I was able to solve my problem, I notice in the screen shot of the drop down menu in Peter's reply that I have different categories in the Buttons/Messages column. For instance, my Box 32 says "Flow: QM Trap Title" I actually got what I wanted with Box 33 "Flow: QM Trap Message"
But I'm curious to know why the discrepancy in the boxes between what I have and Peter's illustration?
Hey Curtis,
It sounds like you opened your Player Template through Presenter, whereas the screenshot I provided was opened directly through Quizmaker.
Oh. Sorry to be dense, I am learning, though. Thank you!
We're all still learning. Everyday. Have a great weekend, Curtis
As long as I'm pursuing this, I have another question. Now that I see the settings in the player template for QM, I have to ask why these defaults did not come up in the first place? My original issue was that if the user tried to advance without submitting an answer, there was a popup with no title and no message. But I see in the QM player template that it is pre-populated with everything I wanted. What's the deal?
Hi Curtis.
That [collapse]original message actually comes from your Presenter player template, not your Quizmaker player template. Try using a default template like Corporate Communications and see if that works. If it does, your template may be corrupt. I would suggest restarting PowerPoint and view your player template and see if the text labels appear as expected or not.
