I can't get my quiz to work at all.

Jun 06, 2013

This is the first time I've tried to make a quiz, but I have watched a lot of tutorials here and on youtube.  But I still can't get it to work.

I added my questions and used "Preview" in the Quizmaker editor.  The preview looked fine.  I hit Save and Close, then it instantly creates a white slide with text at the bottom.

Only, if I then try to preview the slide, nothing happens.  It's just blank.  If I then click on Edit in Quizmaker, I get an error message ("Unable to access quiz Quiz1.quiz.  Please locate the quiz."  Even when I find my quiz and select it, the same error pops up.

It feels like I'm missing some really important step but I have no idea what it would be.

Hi Megan, welcome to the community

Sounds like some pretty strange behavior is occurring. Can you make sure that your Articulate software is all located on the same local drive? You'll also want to be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Finally, if your Storyline software is not working properly, a simple repair may fix the problem. If not, please feel free to submit a ticket to our support team for additional help.

Thanks, Megan!
