Quiz second try via loop

Jun 25, 2014

In my presentation I've set it up so if a person fails the quiz they will be automatically branched back to a review page then progress to quiz like the first time.

Example:

Slide 10 - Review course

Slide 11 - Intro to Quiz

Slide 12 - Quiz; those who do not pass are looped to Slide 10 then progress to 11 and 12.

Slide 13 - those who pass quiz go here

The problem:  If I put iin the Slide Properties that they can take the quiz more than once, the final slide has two buttons:  Finish and Re-Take quiz.  I don't want "re-take quiz" there after they fail -- I want the loop to begin.

If I allow only one attempt on the quiz and the person fails, it goes through the loop and, on the second pass to the quiz, the first thing you see is the answer to one of the quiz questions and a Finish button.  When you click on Finish, it loops back to Slide 10.  No chance to retake the quiz.

I have it set to not show a final passing/fail screen, just to go forward with passing or the fail loop.

What am I doing wrong??

Hi Gwen,

Welcome to the community!

You're not doing anything wrong. In order to reset the quiz, the learner needs to click on the "Retry" button that's provided on the results slide for the quiz.

Now, you can customize that button if you'd like. But learners will still need to interact with it in order to see the questions reset. This is pretty much the piece that resets the answers they've submitted and their score.

I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but I do hope the information helps. If not, perhaps others that have found other methods can share some suggestions with you.

Best,

Christine

Hi Gwen,

If you're using Quizmaker '13, this is pretty quick and easy :)

First, click on "Edit Result" in the Quizmaker '13 ribbon:

That option is accessible from the "Home" tab, while in "Questions" view - you won't see this when a question's slide is open.

From here, you'll want to open either the "Failure" or "Success" layer, depending on when you want to show the "Retry" button:

Once you have the layer selected and the "Allow user to retry" option enabled, you'll see the default "Retry Quiz" button on your slide.

To modify this button, select it. You can also click into the text on the button and enter any text you'd like to display to learners.

You can also modify the shape of the button or colors by selecting the "Format" tab along the top of the ribbon:

You can also edit the font from the "Home" tab, while you have the button selected.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this, or any questions.

Thanks!
